Share your medical history

Before treatment, disclose illnesses, allergies, previous procedures and any reactions. Mention pregnancy, breastfeeding or plans for pregnancy. Assessment determines whether to proceed, postpone treatment or consider an alternative.

Bring a complete list

The AAD recommends disclosing all medicines, vitamins, herbs and supplements, including non-prescription products. Previous toxin injections and other procedures also matter. A written list helps you remember information that may influence the decision.

Do not stop medicines yourself

Some medicines can affect bruising or interact with treatment. That does not mean you should stop them: ask the treating professional and, where appropriate, the prescribing doctor. Accurate information is more useful than unsupervised changes.

Clarify the plan before deciding

Ask who will perform the procedure, which product is proposed, what result is reasonable and how follow-up works. Request preparation instructions for your case. You can take time to think or resolve questions before agreeing to treatment.
