It is a medicine

Medical botulinum toxin is a pharmaceutical preparation derived from a protein produced by a bacterium. It is not a cream or a product to apply yourself: its use requires an appropriate indication and a trained professional.

How it works in aesthetic medicine

When injected into selected muscles, it temporarily reduces contraction. In aesthetic medicine, it is used to soften certain lines associated with repeated expressions. Goals, areas and suitability depend on individual assessment.

It also has other medical uses

Some formulations are used for conditions such as excessive sweating, chronic migraine or certain muscle disorders. These are different indications with their own assessment and treatment requirements; they cannot be extrapolated from aesthetic use.

Assessment determines suitability

Not all wrinkles or facial changes are explained by muscle movement. Assessment considers medical history, goals and alternatives. A clear explanation should include expected benefits, limitations, risks and follow-up, without promising the same result as another person.
