BODY AESTHETIC MEDICINE
What options are available for body skin laxity?
Learn why loose skin needs its own assessment and how modest changes differ from the expectations of surgery.

Not every contour concern is laxity
Changes in an area may involve loose skin, fat and muscle differences together. Before choosing treatment, ask which tissue is responsible for the main concern and how it has been clinically assessed.
What technologies may offer
The AAD describes procedures that deliver energy to heat tissues and encourage changes in firmness. Non-invasive approaches generally aim for modest improvement; they should not automatically be presented as equivalent to surgically removing excess skin.
Area and severity matter
Literature on laxity outside the face covers the abdomen, arms and other regions, but findings do not transfer automatically between areas. A neck study is insufficient to promise the same change in the abdomen.
Waiting is part of planning too
Ask when results should be reviewed and what happens if improvement does not meet your priorities. Comparing options includes recovery, cost and limits. With substantial laxity, discuss alternatives rather than escalating sessions indefinitely.
What to bring to your consultation
Explain recent weight changes, previous treatments or an area that feels uncomfortable when dressing or moving. A specific goal allows discussion of possible improvement without turning one technology into a solution for everything.
