BODY AESTHETIC MEDICINE
Can cellulite be completely eliminated?
What cellulite treatment may change, why it differs from localized fat, and how to recognize unrealistic expectations.

First, understand what you see
Cellulite describes dimples or depressions in the skin surface. It is not simply having more fat: its appearance relates to the organization of tissues beneath the skin. Weight loss and cellulite treatment are therefore not equivalent.
Improvement is not disappearance
The AAD cautions that some options produce modest or temporary changes. A favourable result in selected photographs does not show that the same method completely removes cellulite in everyone or never requires maintenance.
What research says
A systematic review of randomized trials identified several modalities showing potential benefit, but with differences between techniques and limited follow-up. It does not make every technology interchangeable or predict an exact individual response.
How to assess a proposal
Ask which feature will be assessed: dimple depth, texture or your own perception. Request comparable photographs and a review interval. Demonstrating clinical change differs from measuring fewer centimetres or selling an immediate sensation of firmness.
The decision is personal
You are not obliged to treat a feature of your body. If you choose treatment, consider what benefit would justify its cost, discomfort and recovery for you. A consultation can help define a limited, understandable goal.
