Skin care
Which habits help prevent premature skin aging?
Skin care changes over time. Learn to distinguish useful habits from exaggerated promises and how to choose a routine that is compatible with your skin.

Aging is a natural process
With age, skin can become thinner, drier and less elastic. These changes do not mean every line needs correction. Care aims to preserve health and comfort, while assessment helps distinguish normal aging from changes that need attention.
Accumulated exposure matters
Ultraviolet radiation contributes to texture changes, wrinkles and other skin damage. Sun protection and avoiding indoor tanning are care measures, not guarantees of stopping time. Skin also reflects individual factors that cannot be explained by one habit.
Choose products thoughtfully
The AAD advises choosing products for your skin type and keeping expectations realistic. A cream cannot reproduce surgery. Immediate-transformation claims deserve caution; identify the specific concern you want to address before adding several products at once.
Care for dryness and watch for changes
Moisturizers and gentle cleansing can be part of caring for aging skin. Persistent itching, unusual fragility or a concerning new lesion deserve assessment rather than attributing everything to age or covering it with cosmetics.
A realistic goal
Review what your skin tolerates and what you would like to improve. Build a sustainable routine and agree when to assess its response; good care does not require an ageless appearance or every new product.
