Medical aesthetic technology
What history should you disclose before an aesthetic device treatment?
Medicines, implants and skin changes can influence device selection. Complete information supports thoughtful, safety-focused planning.

Start with complete information
Before a session, disclose illnesses, operations and previous procedures, even if they seem unrelated to the area. Mention pregnancy or breastfeeding. Assessment helps determine whether to treat, adapt the proposal or postpone it.
Medicines and light sensitivity
Disclose medicines, supplements and skincare products. Some may affect light sensitivity or recovery. Do not stop them yourself: the team should review the information and coordinate necessary changes with the prescriber.
Implants and materials in the area
Pacemakers, metal implants, intrauterine devices, mesh or tattoos may matter for certain energy devices. Their significance differs between technologies. Assessment should check the indications and restrictions of the specific device.
Consider the current skin condition
Report wounds, infection, irritation, recent changes or a tendency to raised scars. Also discuss tanning and planned sun exposure before light-based treatment. Hiding information to keep an appointment can undermine informed decision-making.
Confirm the decision
Ask about the selected device, its limits and follow-up. A medical-history checklist cannot replace examination or make a procedure risk-free. The plan must reflect your circumstances and the device.
