What should you ask before aesthetic treatment?
Learn which medical details to share, how to discuss risks and what questions to bring to a medical consultation before choosing an aesthetic procedure.

Start with your needs
An aesthetic consultation starts with your goals, rather than automatically choosing a procedure. Explain your concern and what change would feel sufficient. Asking whether to wait or avoid treatment altogether is also a valid part of the discussion.
Share a complete history
Bring a list of medical conditions, allergies, medicines and supplements, along with previous treatments and implants. Mention pregnancy or pregnancy plans. This information helps identify circumstances that may change suitability or the care required.
Ask about benefits and limits
Ask which results are reasonable for your situation, how long they may last and which alternatives exist. Other people’s photographs cannot predict your progress. A useful explanation separates the aim of treatment from a guaranteed outcome.
Understand risks and follow-up
Clarify possible adverse effects, recovery time and how to contact the team if a problem occurs. Ask about the professional’s experience with the proposed procedure and people with characteristics similar to yours, rather than assuming all treatments are equivalent.
For your next consultation
Write down your three main questions and ask for a plan you understand. The decision should give you room to consider benefits, limits, costs and follow-up without pressure to undergo the procedure that day.
